Stumped on what fish to get for my tank

if you're just worried about the long fins, you could try a shorter-finned betta, like a female or a male plakat. petco and petland both often carry females, and depending on the quality of the stores around you, they may also carry plakats. veiltails or spadetails may be alright, I've never had trouble with other fish nipping them. definitely avoid halfmoons, double tails, and the like though.

yeah, thats what I was worried about :( In the UK we dont have petco and the like but I'll try and get a hold of a female betta if I decide to choose one ;)
so far I think it will be a betta, as I prefer there personalities over apistogramma :)

I wish the Petco's and Petsmarts here carried Plakats I've never seen one at any of them, I really want a black plakat.

Okay, now, you may not think that mollies will outgrow a 10gal, but they will, eventually. They generally top out 3-4in long for females (Mine are around 3in now) and would really prefer a 20gal or larger tank.

In that tank I would get a small schooling fish, like tetras, and then leave it at that. I've never had a flying fox fish, so I don't really know if tetras would be compatable with one. Keep the 2 mollies as the centerpiece.

kk FF thanks, I know yuo were overun with mollies xD so how does this sound?

1 flying fox
6 dalmatian mollie
1 sparkling gourami (forgot to mention him, survivor of a group of four)
6 of some tetras species? the rummies didnt do well, so suggestions?

I'd cut your molly collection in half and get a few more tetra's.

Sorry I think I have misunderstood but yes I could half the mollies, but the rummynose tetras didn't work out in the first place due to the flying fox, and my flying fox is my favourite fish. I also am quite attached to the molly fry seen as they are the first fish I have raised since they were just born. I know I sound as if I am not listening to you but I am. Sorry for being so stubborn guys :(

I think that the 2 mollies you have are plenty. Get 8-10 Neon Tetras, they should be okay with Gouramis and mollies. No promises on the Flying Fox fish.

EDIT: Wait, the other 4 are the fry? Then I would take out the males and give them to a LFS ASAP. Keep only females and eventually they will stop spouting out fry. :)

yeah the 4 others are fry, and my flying fox takes care of the fry ;) these are the first I have found since I got them last year. I promise I will not runover with fry as Ill leave all other fry in the tank. I like harlquin rasboras, how does 6-8 of them sound? not really into neons much :/ I know, I am very picky :(

sorry, but u really can't keep a flying fox in either of ur tanks. it needs at least a 55G

sorry:(

and for the 10G, even if ur attached to the molly fry, just sex them, and keep a trio(male + 2 females) and give away the others or just let them fight for survival in ur 26G.
for tetras

u could do 6-8 green neon tetras, they are super tiny and look great
