It is a bit of a time commitment, so you will want to make sure you will have access for the entire game before signing up. UDs can totally ruin a game.

Can't help you with the idiot part. We're all idiots here, that's just part of the fun. (You see that in the sign up thread... lol.)
Trying to play without access to a computer might be tough. There're always a lot of posts to read. Keeping up can be hard, depending on how much RL interferes. If you really think you'll UD, then don't play.
It is easy to avoid a UD, though. All you have to do is place an early vote every day. You can just change it to someone else if you want. You're not locked in with the first vote you make (unless you can't get back before night).
Sign up will be open until the game starts on Monday. You can vote any time after the start until the first nightfall, Wednesday night. The next nightfall after that will be Friday night.. and so on.
