Mafia 96 Who Are You? Game Thread

What did I gain to benefit by pushing for a tie?

I only know UN is scum because of the lynch, I didn't know beforehand same as I don't know AAF is scum or not right now. Only that his actions are scummy and at the time was one of the main places to put a vote. I voted DD for something I think scummy and because AAF isn't a main threat, not as much as DD can be at least. Also at the time of my vote I was hoping for a more spread out vote. But the situation changed so the thought pattern also had to change. Since both were thought scum, thought being the operative word, then there was no reason not to take the chance at the coin flip. If one was innocent and the other scum without any hard proof then I'd rather the coin decide then choose wrong on our own.

If I thought AAF was more likely scum then UN or vice versa I would have just followed the rest onto them and had them hang. AAF already was in the lead and if not hadn't been pushed back would be the one lynched. UN made a bad choice and got piled on only because night lasted longer.

Since you aren't smart enough to figure out the strategy on your own I'll spill some.

At this point there could be as many as 3 communicating players per team. They will not defend one another but if you are innocent and someone comes out and says I think you are innocent then there is a good chance they investigated you and know your innocent, so you can conclude they are on the scum team. Doesn't work as well if they come after you because you can't tell if they are innocents reading you wrong or not unless you see a "team effort" trying to get you lynched.

Its ok I know you're blond.

I never said its the only way. I said a good chance.

Certain actions might lean someone innocent ie Dag voting UN so quickly for a scum move, but even that doesn't make him innocent. He could be scum and thought he caught an innocent in a compromised position. But I'd lean him innocent until I feel otherwise. But I wouldn't come out and defend him.

My thoughts exactly Ice.

I've had a few minutes to skim through to catch up, and figured I'd put a couple of thoughts out there before getting back to paper work.

The Labby/Ice/Dag debaucle: I don't get it. None of it. Not Ice's strategy, not the craziness around the voting last night, and certainly not Dag's single mindedness in using the voting as a scum tell. Ice... you're way smarter than me at this game, so I'm not surprised I don't get your strategy. I wasn't around for a lot of the crazy voting, but I'm stoked with how it turned out. Dag... you seem like a smart guy. The few times I've played with you, I remember generally following your line of thought. This time it's a different story. Things change in this game all the time. If we don't allow people to adopt a new strategy based on new information then we might as well all be scummy together. Here's my question for you, Dag... other than the votes and Ice's "strategy" what other evidence do you have against eihter Ice or Labby? Please put it out there, 'cause they are two of my favorites to nail as scum. If they are, I wanna be on board. But so far, I'm just not with you. Mind you, I'm not saying they're innocent; I just don't see the case against them to this point.

Labby... I'm insulted that you don't even have a good feeling about me. :silly:

I still like my vote on AAF, and for now it will stick. I'm going to try to get back to the thread after I get my real work done, but it might end up late, so I can't say for sure.

I don't really have any other evidence then what I have posted, the rest is just gut feeling.

I have in no way cleared AAF, what they did was scummy and yes I think it was more scummy when UN did the nearly the same thing but he did it after it had already been done once and in direct contradiction to what he had said right before hand. AAF had claimed their vote was random but later said it wasn't, scummy to be sure but not like saying why you'll be voting for someone and then doing a 180 a short time later.

ok, first let me explain why I haven't been as accessible but am trying my best. I work for a large pharmaceutical here in NJ and for the last two weeks, we have been going though a massive bout of layoffs. The company bought another large company 2 years ago and had a layoff last year and we all thought they were done. So we began integrating the two companies for the past year or so (really from 2 years ago but the integration got most intense after the first layoff. We were told 2 months ago that the company needed to do another mass layoff of 13,000 employees. We would hear something soon. That came 2 weeks ago. No one was safe. Work has been more than stressful but we have been dealing as best we could, 2 weeks ago, we got word that the decisions had been made. We would be scheduled with HR who would have a grief counselor available in their adjoining office. Being at the company 24 years made it scary for me though my severance was healthy. I know how hard it is for some folks to go out and get jobs these days, not pretty. I still didn't want to be cut. I did make it though, got my word late last week and things have been unbelievable there now and the amount of work has been horrendous. I am seeing a lot of old friends go and it's incredibly sad to see them go.... So, I get here as best as I can....

Dag, what part of the situation changed in a way to prevent spreading the votes don't you get? If you hadn't jumped on UN so quickly I'd think you were scum. Your theory is flawed and is preventing yourself and others from looking at others.
I also don't see how AAF voting a UD is any different then UN voting a UD.

Rich I am also wary of DD and Zaffy. Zaffy usually has more to say whereas DD is normally quiet but after being called out on her LBF vote freak out post shes been abnormally quiet.

AAF DD or Zaffy will probably get my vote.
I have to say that I understand Ice's strategy but am not so sure I agree with it. It is pretty interesting though and he is looking at things from all angels. The problem I have is that we do not know if the teams have formed yet. Another thing I missed is where I was called out on my "LBF vote freak out" post. Do you have a number of that?

Apparently, I am not smart enough to figure your "strategy" out either Ice...how do you come to this conclusion? So the only way someone can feel another is innocent is if they are scum and have investigated them, and the only way more then one person would come after you is if they are team mates? I really do not see where this is a "strategy" in any way. Excuse me for not being smart enough to understand this.
Like I said, I can understand him but I don't know that I can agree with it. A thought though, there are more than just mafia in the game. There is a PR... I would think they would have a tricky part to play if they use this strategy.

LOL, the feeling is mutual Rich
As for AAF and Zaff, yep I agree on that also. AAF has not come down on my scale, and Zaff just isn't doing anything.

And here we have it, see Ice what I see from you is a attempt to draw attention to yourself to get a invest on yourself, THAT is what I understand. I believe you started that hole fiasco last night knowing you were not going to me lynched and you wanted to be investigated so you can get your "easy win" out to your team before you are lynched. What I am not sure of is which side you are hoping to help.
totally agree here.

As far as most guilty for me, is still AAF. I don't get the whole scenario on Day 1 and now there are lies even. If innocent, why lie. If a lone mafia waiting to be picked up, I can see him as being a little flighty in his game play being as he is still somewhat of a noob.

I vote to lynch AAF, until I can read further into things to see if I can come up with anything.

g/o Sorry to hear about the cuts. I'm glad you made it through with your job DD. g/o

I'm also glad to see you comment. Do you have thoughts on anyone else aside from AAF?

I vote to lynch Zaffy. Everyone is piled on to AAF so we need to spread a few out, besides he is my number one suspect right now.
I agree, they need to be spread out a bit and I can see voting Zaff for his lack of input but right now I vote to lynch Ice

I can't help but feel he is really trying to pull something.

holy smokes, if I wasn't DD, I would totally think that was a slip.... LOL

so, LBF... could it be because you were the first one questioned, you felt a little panicked and tried to bring an innocent down with you? I think I did that in game 2...

This post DD its post 173 and the start of the game. I just find it odd that you reacted this strongly to a new player.

It took me a moment to figure out what Dag was talking about above...so I took out the rest of the post to just the point....

They will not defend one another but if you are innocent and someone comes out and says I think you are innocent then there is a good chance they investigated you and know your innocent, so you can conclude they are on the scum team.

But I'd lean him innocent until I feel otherwise. But I wouldn't come out and defend him.

So Ice...you first say...how if someone states someone else is innocent (or the think) we can conclude they are scum right? Then you go on to say "but I'd lean him innocent" (in your 5th grade explanation to me). So yet again you have gone against your own words (the first time being the spread out votes/tie votes shenanigans).
