really , all you can and should do is continue to offer advice when asked.
Education is, sometimes, a slow process.
better to make yourself available when they ask advice..eventually they will figure it out or decide that fish keeping isn't for them.

as much as pretending the fish are dead and buried........ this is the right way I think
