As promised, here is my 2 tank project

Update time. 123 go!

LOL, ok well I wanted to take some pictures tonight and post... so here is where I'm at

Both tanks have water/substrate and everything running.

My brother works at a fish supplier/raiser,so last saturday I went over there and got some bacteria from already cycled healthy tanks and a couple of snails/plecos/neons/
2 glass knife fish/ and 2 spotted cat fish for the 65G
Both tanks have been running for 2 weeks now,but just started inserting fish this past weekeng, eveything is running perfect

I noticed last night that my Rena Xp3 filter had an air-bubble in the top of the filter but it's working fine, good pressure etc... So today I did some research and it's either my quick disconnect valve o-rings that are worn out, or QDV isn't seated properly/or I didn't prime it properly.. I will recheck tonight as I dont want to burn my motor.

Oh and get this....

My glass tops got destroyed from the worker as he didn't properly do his job to cut my tube holes at the back.. I just found out today because I called them to see what was going on and the owner told me.." hey didn't we call you already? It's been a week that we broke the glass! " !!!!:swear:

I was like... "euh no!!!???" So I told him, ok look, give me another 4mm glass and I will get the job done somewhere else....
He told me" well we could still do the job for you..."
I told him forget it, you broke the glass I brought you, I didn't get a follow-up nothing, I called last week and I was told it was not ready yet. Not that it was broken!
sooo...
I have to go pickup the glass tomorrow morning to replace the one they broke... so hopefully the new place I will bring the glass to will be able to to the job ASAP.

Man, that sucks! I would have requested it be done for like half price or something.
Well I could have done that and maybe overreacted about the fact that they broke it.I understand sometimes people make mistakes.
But it was a better deal for me anyways to get it done somewhere else.
I didn't trust them anymore, so I found a spot closer to my house and they charge 5$/cut instead of 8$ he was charging me.

I still have to drive 30 mins each way to go get that glass from the other store... so I already lost 2h of travel in gas etc for absolutely nothing.

So It's still going to cost me less.
Basically for the 65G I have 4 cuts plus 2 U-shape holes.
And for the 30G I have 3 cuts and 2 U-shape holes.

It's going to cost me about 40$ to get my glass cut and prepped for both tanks... I'm happy with that.

Well here is a small update...
Got 2 Pictus Cat and 2 glass knife fish for the 65G
( I will be getting 3 more of each as they are happier in a group )

Also as you can see, my frekin drift wood popped out of the water because my Lexan base wasn't big enough I guess....
So I'm going to remedy the solution with a big slate of porcelain tile that I will drill SS screws in the wood.

Now I also did a small brackish setup with my 10G tank for my fiddler crab that was suppose to be for my Q-tank... I didn't like this tank for my Q-tank as it didn't have an appropriate cover and I will get another 10G Q-tank for free anyways..... I don't know the exact species but I will try to get a nicer pic of him and maybe someone can help me out.
I used a Y PVC tube submerged in the sand and he's real happy.

Can someone help my identify this snail I got?
I hope it's not a malaysian trumpet snail as they can cause havoc in a tank.
I also noticed yesterday a tiny snail identical to this one right next to it...a baby?
but I can't find it anymore.. It's either hiding in the substrate or is it possible it's hiding inside the female snail?
The one in the picture is an empty shell but the live one I have is twice as big.

Thanks

well my 2 tank project is complete for now ;)
both tanks are healthy and stocked a little

I'm going to be getting a little more fish for the tanks and also some plants but not too much.
I'm happy with both tanks now, I will list a species list soon.

Here are the final pics.
Enjoy!

the snail is pretty big for a malyasian trumpet snail. but I am not sure the MTS actually cause havoc in the aquarium.. they are known to be beneficial snails that dig into the substrate and eat algae.
it is possible that you have one..just a big one

Actually I did some research, and my brother who works for a fish raising shop confirmed it's a golden rabbit snail :)
I have a tiny one also... they are both speckled with gold dots :D

fiddler crabs are awesome. you might want to get him 2 lady friends or if its a girl a lady friend and a boy friend.
