11 dead cardinal tetras in last few hours

Hmm, even if they got pushed into the plant, you would think at least one would survive. Could be that they ate the powder. I have never heard of using powder during water changes, but I dont doubt that you do. Power outage seems like it is out of the question. The only thing I can think of is that the fish swam in front of the output and got pushed into the plant or the intake is behind the plants and they got sucked in. But still, one would think that at least one fish would survive that. stray electricity could in fact be the issue. Just because humans cant feel it, stray electricity could still be in your tank. From what I understand, we are much less sensitive to it than fish are. It takes considerably more current for us to feel it than a fish would need to feel it.

Idk, Could you post a pic of your tank so we can see the plant and where the filter intake and output are?

maybe the schooled into a spot for the night and used up the o2 in thier sleeping spot.. 85f is a little o2deficient

I've had similarly bad luck w/ CTs over the years. I've still got 4 year old Otos w/o any problem, but my tank has been death to a couple dozen CTs since I first tried 'em. I also recently lost one of my large angels to bloat recently. The other one is fine.

My condolences. Nice looking tank - maybe do what I did, switch to glo-lites. They seem tougher (so far).
