I'm not very experienced with cichlids, but I personally would do all different shades of mainly blue (like the acei, blue zebras, cobalt, etc.), that would look amazing. Just my opinion though, I have a thing for blue colored fish! :)

For the 55 gallon, I know they aren't cichlids, but what about a couple fancy goldfish, and a few gold dojo or just regular dojo loaches? The goldfish can turn into "wet pets" and the loaches are pretty cool as well in my opinion.

Good luck on your fish tank! Fingers crossed that you get it!

I would love a tank of just angelfish actually. Maybe with a pleco! I have two angelfish in my biotope and they are just amazing to watch, they seem to get on really well.... Hope it continues as they get older.

well i have 2 blue cabolts 1 yellow lab 1 red zebra 1 female elec blue ahli 1 female zebra oblique.. need to get 1 more female and 1 male elec blue ahli and 3 more females 1 male zebra oblique and get the yellow lab numbers up to 6 and same with the red zebra and blue cabolts..

so would this work for a 125?

4 elec blue ahli ( 1 male 3 females )
5 zebra oblique ( 1 male 4 females )
6 yellow labs ( 1 male 5 females )
6 blue cobalts ( 1 male 5 females )
6 red zebras ( 1 male 5 females )
1 open water hap? ( what specie? )
anything else?

yes the elec blue is a peacock and oblique is a hap.

lol if i was into goldfish i would have them by now.. goldfish just dont *tickle* my fancy lol.. but thanks! i may just a wet pet of either red devil or green texas ( or a pair? ) or trade the tank for more african cichlids ( put the 55 in craiglist for more african cichlids or a 40 breeder )

OH and if this doesnt go through.. i may keep the stock i listed but not add the open water hap and knock the number of elec blue haps down to 1 male 3 females and same with the zebra oblique..

so 55 stock would be ( if this dont go throught )

3 elec blue ahli ( 1 male 2 females )
3 zebra oblique ( 1 male 2 females )
6 yellow labs ( 1 male 5 females )
6 blue cobalts ( 1 male 5 females )
6 red zebras ( 1 male 5 females )

or if the 125 does go through then:
4 elec blue ahli ( 1 male 3 females )
5 zebra oblique ( 1 male 4 females )
6 yellow labs ( 1 male 5 females )
6 blue cobalts ( 1 male 5 females )
6 red zebras ( 1 male 5 females )
1 open water hap? ( what specie? was thinking livingstoniis but only 1? )
anything else?

how does that sound?

Add a featherfin, definitely. I had a 6"er in with my mbuna tank and he ran the show.
