Actually, I have the Aqueon version, but that's irrelevant (I don't know the generic name for these type of vacs). Anyways, last thing I want is the return water passing through a tube of mold. What do you guys do? Or is it just inevitable. I just can't see how I can keep the interior of a 25' hose dry enough to prevent mold.

Hang it up almost vertical in a dry (low humidity) area....blow dry it. But I use it as is, mold or not, and clean it with bleach every so often...

I have had the same gravel vac attached to a 100' of tubing for close to 9 yrs and never even thought to consider it as nothing has ever happened. I simply drain the water out of the hose, coil it up and hang it on a hook.

Gets pretty humid where I live....even when properly drained, after a few weeks, 4-6, you get some slime growing.

On a side note how do you guys dechlor when filling with a python from a faucet? Dechlor for the whole tank volume? Before filling or after?

Prime...tank volume...
