Why are you bored with them? Honestly, african cichlids are one of the more interesting freshwater fish available in the hobby. If you get new fish, it'll probably be more of the same. Without knowing why you're bored with your fish, we really can't give you any suggestions to remedy that.
They are just so limited on tankmates and i dont know what to do with them.

if you got a 55 or 75 you could add some syndontis cats and i believe congo tetras would work also(i think)

Tell her that your fish deserve a larger home, and they will outgrow your tank. Show her the full grown cichlids at aquatek and tell her that's how big yours will get.
The tank looks great with the sand and PVC pipes.
Maybe you could rehome all the stuff in there and get 1 Green spotted puffer. You need to keep in mind their diet and that they need brackish water.
Or possibly 4-5 dwarf puffers, they don't need brackish water and their teeth don't overgrow. They still need a nutritious diet.
