No luck with cory cats!

What are you feeding them? What do they look like before they die? Finally, what type of substrate do you have? Is it possible it is too harsh for their barbels?

Even very unsuitable gravel is unlikely to cause death in such a short space of time. I would imagine the fish would die from infection due to barbel wear and not simply because the barbels are damaged, which would take longer than the short space of time in which these fish were in the tank.

It takes a long time for a fish to die of starvation. The fact that several batches have died within the same month and so soon after purchase makes me sure it's not starvation.

Yeah, that occurred to me after I posted (note to self; think before type!). I once had the same problem with platys and decided it must be just me. I still won't even attempt them because of a die off like you're talking about. Everyone tells me that's weird since practically nothing kills platys, but still....

Not trying to suggest it's you...can you try getting them from a private local hobbyist and see how that goes?

They're not my fish, I'm not the OP! ;)

I agree with you there, I would try again but not from the store. A local hobbyist would be ideal, and if they die too, we will have to rethink!

Ok, back to the drawing board!!! I will go to another fish store across town and try my luck! Hope it works out. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for everyones help! At least I know its not me...lol!

Ok, got 3 panda corys from the the another pet store. These ones were bigger than the first batch I purchased, 2 of them have died in about a weeks time. The last one seems to be ok so far! The first two had no bite marks or anything like that. All the other fish in the tank are alive and well. Seems like they just get into some sort of shock become less active then die. I put them in the 20 gallon where I only have the dwarf gourami and the harlequin rasboras. I even got some frozen blood worms, brine shrimp, tubifex worms, frozen and dried just in case they didn't like the other foods. And still......DEAD!!!!
ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS????
