37 Column Native Wisconsin Riparium

Thanks. I actually had some trouble with this tank. I only go over to the museum once per week and it was getting overfed. Most of the fish have died and I do need to restock it; and improve the maintenance schedule. However, I think that pirate perch would probably be too hefty for this tank. There is only about 12 gallons of water in it. I have always been curious about pirate perch. How are they as an aquarium fish?
I have worked on the planting some more. Here's a shot with the Oplismenus basket grass that I added to this tank last week.
Basket grass is an excellent trellis raft plant, but it's spindly and you have to use of stems to get it to cover. As these grow up I will cut off the tops and plant them back into the same trellis raft.
I had a suspicion! Haven't been there in a few months, should go check it out. The kiddo would like that too.

In all honestly Pirate Perch are a boring aquarium fish! They're a cyptic ambush predator, so the hide really well until food appears then they grab it and hide again! On the plus side this general lack of activity does make them more suitable for smaller tanks.Thanks. I actually had some trouble with this tank. Thanks SubRosa that's good to know more about those pirate perch. They wouldn't be such a good choice for this setup, but they do sound intriguing. Do you keep any other US natives?
