They are just emohasizing the importance of you getting a new, much.bigger tank. I.bet you 99% of.us are not at all rich on this forum, however fish keeping is our hobby so we save/find the money to spend on it. We also keep within our means, (keep appropriate sizd and amount of fish in appropriate sized tanks) to the best of our ability

I don't know...one of the very first lessons I learned, probably by the time I was 7 or so, was that you don't get animals you don't have the capability to care for properly. It doesn't matter to the animals how rich, old, well-equipped you're not, or what your lack of abilities are, IF you care for them by meeting their needs, not being cruel, not mistreating them. Because no matter how weak and powerless you feel as a kid, those animals have even less control over their situation than you do. It's a tough life lesson because I doubt you want to be cruel, but what you have described for these fish just is. When you decide to get animals, you also must rise to that responsibility if you want to do it right. Keep us posted, people here are trying to help so hopefully you can keep an open mind about what's been said here!

Guys, this is just a kid, can't you tell? Do adults name their fish Bacon?

The fish are probably going to die, yes, but how is berating a child making it better?

At least she realizes she's doing something wrong.

Telling her she needs to change water every day and buy two fully loaded aquariums is not realistic.

No matter how precocious you all were at the age of 10 or less, I'm sure you made some mistakes when you first started out...and people telling you that you are cruel and irresponsible probably didn't help.

My advice to you is to not get any more fish (as was suggested) and get some books from the library about aquariums, so you get a better understanding of how to keep fish properly.

Might want to check this out as she specifically quoted a post of yours as one that hurt her feelings

Well, I am sorry it hurt her feelings, but this is the textbook definition of "non-serious fishkeeping"...which I'm pretty sure is the same kind of fishkeeping I first started with, even when I was 17. I think I had 8 black skirt tetras in a 10 gallon tank. So however old this youngster is, she has a ways to go. Educating herself is the first step.

It may shock you all to know that the way she has her tank, is probably the way the majority of people keep fish...we are really a minority here on this forum. Not everyone delves into this hobby as seriously as we do, far from it.

I am an adult, and I accidentally overstocked my tank. It is irresponsible fish owning, you are correct--but there are so many people at local fishstores and in books that will give you TERRIBLE advice. Particularly in saltwater. The people on this aquarium forum helped me understand without being bullyish. Education should be understanding and gentle. Not brutally honest and slamming a little girl-irresponsible??? I've seen a lot of pet owners do much more irresponsible things. She overstocked, she's admitted it, she wants help. Nothing irresponsible about that.

Lighten. Up.

I think you misunderstand me ;) You might want to read my posts more carefully because I am speaking out AGAINST slamming a little girl. And people can give their fish silly names if they want to :) Just don't be surprised if people interpret you as a child, because children are mostly the ones who do this.
