And a quick question about DIY CO2, can I use brown sugar, or do I need to go out and buy white sugar?

I always used white sugar, never seen any "recipes" that called for brown sugar

I was asking because we don't use white sugar anymore in my house. But it turns out we have some left over, so I'm good.

Anyone can confirm the plant ID?

Does not look like Hydra to me. Need closer exam/pics of leaves.

Looks more like Ludwigia.

Sorry I made a typo, I meant Hedge plant. I ask because I read Hedge plants are commonly sold as aquatic but they aren't. Deciding when to take it out.

i'm horrible at this game. have no idea what that plant is.

but...

the way those leafs are turning looks awful telling. the cupping/turning looks indicative of a coming storm or humidity that's too high. i'm going to go ahead and say non-aquatic.

just to be on the safe side... until you get a positive ID, i'd pot all but one and leave the last one in the tank to see how it fares. this should allow you a chance to see if it will make it in your tank without degrading the water quality too much, too fast while giving you the chance to save the extra specimens for replanting into the tank if it works out.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to replace it as soon as possible.
