but aligning with the middle of the galaxy ( milky way ) happys very rarely.
About as often as many people have birthday parties.

At least as often as those who don't exploit restaurants that don't ID to confirm birth date have birthday parties...

"research" what confirmation bias means. It means your perspective is skewed to suit something you believe. When the exact same thing happens many many other times you take no notice but now you do since its "something"

Yep. That one is a pain. It has basically destroyed any hopes of true research into prophecies and predictions made in the past. People talk about how accurate certain prophets were and how many predictions they made, but they fail to realize that they are sitting there actively trying to link the prophecies to events. And with a massive pool of events to pick from (since prophecies are always vague), and the interpretation open for the researcher to make, it is inevitable that everything will match up to something eventually.

We are doomed! The sun came up this morning and birds were singing while it was stil dark out! The earth is going to explode! RUN!!!:nilly:

True research into prophecies and predictions is certainly possible, it lives in the realm of human psychology. In fact this kind of research is how we come to define terms like confirmation bias. The human mind is a powerful pattern finding machine, the way people assign meaning to vague meaningless claims is testament to that. The researcher isn't the one who assigns meaning to the predictions, the researcher instead observes and determines if the prediction is accurate etc... When they are accurate (the vast majority are not) it's the researchers job to determine if it was statistically likely for a guess to be accurate under the circumstances, or to find underlying causes for how the prediction came to be accurate. (spoiler: no one has found a supernatural cause yet).

My brain hurts now...

Although picking out patterns isn't always a bad thing. I find my survival late at night relies heavily on being able to spot objects that look very similar to a small black cat in a dark room preparing to rip into the ankles of all who pass by.

I have a large black cat that does that. Not fun.
