20 Gallon Low Light Planted Tank Build Journal! FINALLY!

Im liking that cholla wood and moss combo. I might just try that in my ten gallon to get some plants in there. Did you just put the moss in the holes of the cholla wood or did you have to anchor them? I see some pretty bright greenery in the tank. Looking great :)

Thank you! The greenery really makes the tank pop. Heads up on the cholla wood, it floats need to do the same thing you wood do for regular driftwood. I Just let it float in the tank until it becomes water-logged (didn't have any fish or plants in the tank yet).

Did not anchored the moss. Just make sure you make little moss balls to stuff the holes do it doesn't come loose and the fish or shrimp don't push it out.

I am liking the way it looks I am going to get more moss and some more plants:D

Sweet. How many fish are in the tank and what types? I could see a nice colony of cherries thriving in there without a doubt

There are 8 Corydoras Habrosus, 10 Cestial Pearl Danios (that swim to the corner where the Vals are every time you get near the tank), 12 Red Cherry Shrimp (lost one:( could see only 8, at least 3 big females), 1 LAZY zebra nerite (Gary) and 1 red spot/tracked nerite (Elmo).
Going to get 25-30 red shrimp colony in April. (vendor does not want to ship in winter) for the price ($24.45 including shipping) I don't mind waiting.
I will probably make my new plant order later on today (just realized its 12am).Will update on what I do order.

UPDATE: Ordered more plants! :D This hobby is contagious! :o Once again I ordered from Planted Aquariums Central and ordered their 20 Gallon Low Light Plant Package.
http://www.shop.plantedaquariumscentral.com/20-Gallon-Low-Light-Plant-Package-lowlipack.htm
Decided to get this package because it actually has the plants I wanted to buy. Except the marimo ball, let's see how I will place it in the scape.
I am scared that am starting to get obsessive over buying plants! :what:

Now a question on stocking. With my current stock would I be able to add 5-6 Cardinal or Neon Tetras?

Patti, you're going to need another tank or two for all the plants eventually!

Sorry if you've answered this earlier: I see you have an Exo Terra incandescent light on the tank. Are you using compact fluorescent lamps in it? Just curious to what light you've got to make your plants flourish. My stock LEDs don't cut it at all.

I have gone plant crazy. :what:The Exo terra fixture is a three bulb fixture. So currently I have 3 of these bulbs:
