Well I got the Ok from the girlfriend to get another tank that will be bigger than my 30 gal. Debating between a 55 or a 75, and I think the 75 is winning. Well I'm also looking for more fish. Right now I have a molly, and a good number of guppies. Would y'all think with a good sized tank I could get away with some semi aggressive fish with peaceful fish? Or should I just go ahead and make that next tank into a cichlid tank?

You could trade them in to a LFS for cichlids. You'd probably enjoy them more. But if you listed the specific fish you were looking into that are "semi-aggressive" people will be able to give you insight towards them being comparable or not.

It really depends on the particular fish. Angels are semi-aggressive and would be fine with Mollies. Acestorynchus species (freshwater Barracuda) are less aggressive than Angels, but will eat Mollies as fast as you put them in the tank. Speaking in such broad generalities is rather meaningless.

I have to agree. I've got a 11/2" platy in a 75g with a 12" pleco, a 12" leporinus, and a 12" Quetzal Cichlid; all of which are semi aggressive. I thought it would be a good idea to add a few more smaller fish for size contrast. More platies seemed reasonable and I thought Bolivian Rams would be fine. Wrong! 1 ram was eaten almost immediately; luckily, I was able to rescue the other 4. The platies weren't so fortunate. Oddly enough, the one that's left is the same one that's been in there for months and he swims all over. Go figure.

May need to have a large tank with one it someday. Really appreciate it. May get the larger tank and make that my cichlid tank and keep my 30 gal for my living room.
