New 30 gallon planted tank build.

Yeah as Slappy said it wont hurt anything. Your bacteria are on solid surfaces such as the filter media, substrate, hardscape, etc.

Cool I'll keep that mind if this ever happens again. I never really had issues with cloudiness in 55 gallon, but I also never used flourite in there, lol.

Water is way clearer after yesterday's water change. I didn't have to time to take a picture before with, but I will post as soon as I get off.

It's really clear now, but there's still a brownish tint. I'm thinking that's from the driftwood though.

Pretty likely. An adsorbent like charcoal or Purigen will take care of that.

I just came across purigen online the other day while looking at stuff online. You think it's a good buy? I was interested, but couldn't find many reviews on it.

I love Purigen. For the sake of convenience and cost, I'd buy the 100ml pillows on Amazon. They're about $10. I'd put two in filters for a 55. It's less expensive than buying a 250ml bottle of Purigen, and then The Bag (a Seachem designed media bag that can stand the rigors of the regeneration processes for the various Seachem medias) to put it in, as I originally did. Although, in retrospect, an inexpensive mesh bag may work for Purigen, as the regeneration process for it isn't as harsh as it is for, say, Cuprasorb. I have some in The Bag and some in a.... I think Lee's brand mesh bag, and both have been regenerated, and both are holding up well. Yes, you can buy a lot of charcoal for $20. I've been using the same Purigen in my 55 for 2 years. At the rate it's changing color, I imagine I'll be fine for at least one, maybe two more years. I also bought a 100ml pillow a few months ago to put in my canister filter.

I have a 30 gallon, lol. I used to have a 55 gallon, but I traded it for my current 30 gallon. Sorry for the confusion. Do you still think purigen is a good buy for me?

I was just using that number as a reference. In your case, I'd go with one. Can always add another one if you feel you need it.
