Planted tank with no fishes -- still need filter?

No, it's not like that. there no pressure at all. Besides, I came here asking for answers and opinions for a reason. :)
 
Some plants even do better without a filter. My outside tank contains Water Hyacinth and Lettuce along with lots of livebearers, minnows and Florida Flag fish. The plants do much better out there than they do when I bring them inside to a filtered aquarium. The outside tank also has lots of algea too but fish and plants do not seem to mind.

Have to consider the sunlight factor too. ;)
