I went into my LFS and saw a 55 gallon tank with glass tops and an oak stand for $100. Couldn't beat that price at all. I been wanting to upgrade my 37g for awhile and didn't want to spend a lot. I have the tank on layaway and I will be putting small payments on it till I have it paid off in full. They are going to clean it out and everything.

Here's a picture of the 55.

I will be putting all the decor and gravel into the tank along with the fish.

What I'm going to get for it:
Marineland 350 Penguin Biowheel.. (it takes the same size media has the 200 I have on the 37.. So I can transfer the media over to it)
200w Heater
36"-48" LED light strip
20-30 more pounds of gravel or sand..(may fix sand into my gravel)
Low to medium light plants
New background
Make shelves in he stand to put supplies in there neatly.
Driftwood
Large and small rocks (that I can find laying around near the river, no need to buy rocks.)

Fish that will be transferred over from the 37.
2 angelfish (one is about the size of a quarter)
5 kuhli loaches
clown pleco
trio of gold rams
albino rainbow shark
2 SA Bumblebee Catfish
Rainbow Goby

The black neons will be put into my 10 gallon till it's upgraded to a 20.

Can I up the kuhli loaches to 8 or 10 and what schooling fish should I get to replace the 10 black neons? I want a schooling fish that is big enough not to be munched on by the angels.

I was thinking either Candy Cane Tetras, Congo tetras(but not sure), Rasboras(the larger ones) or any other ideas you guys come up with. I need ideas.

That is what I wondered..said you had two angels. Before you buy one big heater..I've heard a lot of people say a 100 watt at both ends of tank can be better(same wattage, more disbursment). I like the idea of backup that way, anyway. Not sure about your black neons, either..I would worry about nipping more than losing the neons, I think. Jealous you have gold rams..Very nice looking tank at a good price! Enjoy.

I got a 100 gallon tank off CL with stand, filters, light, hood and lids for $80 off CL.

good score tho!

I'll put the baby angel into the 55 as well. I think I have room for the other angelfish. I will be running two filters on the tank. The current Marineland Penguin 200B, which is fully cycled, and a new MArineland Penguin 350B. I will be putting in old filter media into the 350 from the 200 to help cycle that filter. I may just stick with one heater for now. I am on a budget, but I found a site where I can buy everything cheap.

Which LFS is this?

and what are the plans for the 37? Just sell whatever you don't use?

And, if budget is a concern, I'd likely go with a shoplight from home depot, unless you have more specific lighting needs

Nature's Cove in Newton, NJ. They have good deals and they have fish I never seen before.

I may sell the 37 or keep it, I'm not sure yet. May keep the tank and stock it with other fish or put the fish from the 10 into and turn the 10 into a QT. IF I do that, save's me money on buying a new tank completely for the betta and endlers. I think I like the idea of doing that for the betta and endlers. What do you think about that idea?

Ermagerd! I first misread "shoplight" as "shoplift" (you can't have manslaughter without laughter!) and thought you were saying something quite different. :duh:

I've been there before...

which reminds me they had some awesome deals on coral when I was last in there; I should go again.

I think I'd personally keep the tank, and run 2 filters on the 55 at first, to keep 1 seeded and available to switch to another tank.

keeping endlers in a 37 will result in a large number if you have a mix of gender.. but you likely know that. having somewhere to sell or gift fry or juvies will prevent a need for a bigger tank.

A QT tank is always a good idea, but I get the feeling you'll set it up as a regular tank without much time passing ;)
