Can someone please tell me what this is. Appeared in my tank beneath dark area of live rock. 90 gal saltwater tank with only foxface, yellow tang, two breading pair clowns, sea urchin, cardinal, some red leg crab -shelled , coco worm (feather duster). This picture is magnified....Tank ball like spike.jpg
 
It does look sponge-like. Considering it was in a dark part of the tank, I'd lean towards that.

It is a type of sponge. Safe.

....Yes...thank you all for your response, I was able to find out it is a Pineapple Sponge.
