Hi guys, I'm new to the big tank own and new here to the forum.
i'm going to get a 75 Gallon Tank for the Fire Eel (i really really love them, gotta have one), as many say 75 Gal tank might be a bit small for Fire Eel but there no place in my apartment for lager tank. I also do a lot of research and see many guys out there have their Fire Eels doing well in 55 Gal, 75 Gal tank. so I decide to get one with standard length of 48" (i'll absolutely upgrade to 120 Gal or bigger when i get my own better house after few years from now, saving up $$$ :) )
my main question is : is it possible to have a Fire Eel living with Peacock Eels (2 or more), Black Fin Sharks (2 or more), a common Pleco in the same 75 Gal tank ? the Fire Eel i'm gonna take is about 8"~10" long.
and what kind of gravel do you guys think is the best for Fire Eel (i prefer watching him hiding in pipe but think of his comfort and health safety and have to choose gravel carefully)
Thank you.
Have the nice fishyyyyy day :D !

I've never had a fire eel, as I've never had enough space. So, I did a quick search and there is a great post on this forum about them: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/threads/the-fire-eel-care-information.160707/

I'd recommend having a read. It has a lot of good info. Basically, the 75 would be too small for an adult. The size you are saying you will get will be pushing it IMO, because of growth rates.

This thread recommends no other eels with them. The sharks and the pleco should be fine. Just make sure there are plenty of hiding spots.

Based on my experience with peacock eels I was going to suggest a sand substrate, and that is what this thread recommends as well.

Thank you my friend.
I'm now only thinking of getting smaller eels (peacock or black spotted eel) i'll be having a fire eel when i'm ready for the really big tank.
BTW, how do you think of the community of Black Spotted Eel, Gar, Bichir, Pleco, Black Fin Shark, Blue Gourami and/or a kind of Cichlid ?

IMO for a 75 gallon tank that's too many different specialist fish.

I think the needle nose is the only gar small enough for that size tank and they can be a little iffy in that size.
