Adding Gourami to Neon Tetras?

Hello!
I have eight neon tetras and recently upgraded to a 55 gallon freshwater tank. I am thinking about adding a few pearl gourami and 5 Julii Cory cats to the tank to start building a community with my neons. Would the gourami and Corys get along well with my neons? I have seen some mixed reviews on places. Also which should I add first if I don’t get them all at once. Thanks for your input!

Pearl gouramis are fine with neons. A friend has that combo in her 55g & some corys too. I'd suggest at least 6 or even 8 corys, they're more fun in bigger groups. I think my friend has 12 or 16 neons & lots of plants too.

For the pearls, I'd go with 1 male or female...or 1 male & 2 or 3 females. Beautiful fish!

Post some pics when you can, we love to see!

Awesome!! Any other ideas on some fish that might go with this group? I’m excited to get them going.

I haven't seen my friend's tank in a while but I know she had rummy nose tetras (8?) with 1 pearl gourami &, like I said a big bunch of neons & corys...& some kind of twig catfish I think.

A BN pleco is a doable substitute for the twig cat but either would appreciate some wood to graze on.

Live plants are always good, we both belong to a plant club...that's how we met. Something else to think about...
