Any experience with the Marineland C-530 canisters?

Got filter number one set up last night. Everything went fairly well, these things are huge!

One item of note....the instructions aren't terribly clear about the fact that the canister ships WITHOUT the main o-ring seal in place on the top of the canister. I got everything set up, pressed the priming plunger on top, water started flowing in through the intake...but no air was coming out of the return pipe, much to my alarm. I had about enough time to scratch my head in confusion and realize OH #^*% before water started pouring out of the joint between the can and lid, all the way around. I was able to slam the valve block closed before too much water spilled out. I had to go back, dig around in the accessories box, and hey, there was a big o-ring in a bag in there to be installed on the power head to seal it to the can.

Other than that oversight, no issues getting it assembled and running. I definitely need to figure out some extensions for the intake strainers.

That is an oddity...never happened to me, but with so many versions of their filters over the years, my macho man in me didn't read the instructions but realized I needed it on assembly. If you have any suction pipes from other items you can make one up, or visit a local hardware store and buy parts to create one.

Yeah, I'm going to have to bring the other intake section with me to the store to try and find something that will work. I don't have anything on hand that's big enough except for clear vinyl hose, which isn't going to hang straight down with the inherent curl of the hose. A section of 1" ABS would probably be perfect but I don't think its readily available that small. PVC will do, I'll just have to paint it black if I can't find anything else.

Check their lawn sprinkler section for stubs...just a thought.

I was gonna say, that may be a bit of a challenge finding hard tubing that will fit with the OEM stuff. Worst case make your own intake section out of PVC or something.

That O-ring thing is odd for sure. Out of the 4 different make/model canisters I've used at this point, all of them came with all the O-rings in place.
