Love the corys, of course, & the behind the tank stick does look good. I'm sorry to say the first sponge is now looking sorta spit-like. Is the new sponge different or just different wood & lighting? Anyway, they're cool!
The apistos look nice. The "female-ish" 1 seems more chubby in a girly way, anal fin to tail; the dorsal & anal fins seem pointy but still shorter than the male's. "Her" pelvic fins still seem rounded...size or gender difference? Why isn't she more yellow yet?!? I've only kept 2 different species of apistos, maybe 3 but as I recall the females would have been more yellow if not full-on bright yellow by now (regardless of the acorn species, lol). Her eye stripe seems more pronounced.
The 'yellow' is some-what a false indicator of 'readiness' I don't fully understand but i've had them turn yellow without wanting to breed and not bothering to turning yellow and brooding a nice batch of frys.
Huh, jake, I never had a less than pretty yellow apisto female ready to breed or even just adults...but you've kept this species & many more. I bow to your more informed perspective. She does seem to have that "girlie figure" abdomen.
Yeah I don't think it's broody dress. But both fish are still young, so. Male hasn't even come close to 2 inches yet haha. He's about 1.5 inches at the moment.Looking great, Noodle! & now we see how very small your sponges are! Less spit-like with your dainty fingers in the mix. lol.
I love the big pic of your tank!
