My Severum likes to tug at the roots, stems, etc. which of course uproots the entire plant. I have Swords, anubias and bacopa. The bacopa are fine, it's the swords and anubias I am having a problem with. I seem to be replanting most of them every day. Will they still survive?

They should survive..However this behavior by the fish isnt going to stop. They like to arrange there own homes..they are redecorating for you..;)

I would suggest you put some decorations in..floating live plants, fake plants, rocks, what have you and allow the fish to do "decorate" as they see fit, and set up a seperate planted tank that allows you to decorate as you like and stock it with fish that aren't so picky abut there homes..

I know my severum will never stop, I swear he does it just to see my reaction when I get home from work. He is the coolest fish, when I re-plant my plants, he comes over and I can pet him......he seems to like it. Maybe thats why he uproots them,?........... LOL:)
I also have some fake plants and some fake driftwood, rocks, etc.
I will look into getting some more anubias and lead weights, they don't get buried anyways.
Thanks for the positive advice!:dance2:

I wish that I had a fish I could pet

I had a problem with my JD's uprooting plants. I used egg sized rocks as part of my decor; stacked some around the plants and so far after a month or so all the plants are still in place.

Now, having spilt the beans, will go home tonight and find all the giant vals floating at the top of the tank!

I tried anchoring my plants by putting big rocks on them as well, but they don't seem to grow as well.....not getting as much light maybe?!
I will try to arrange a little better.........hopefully my Severum will like it this time!
