A couple of weeks ago i posted a request for help with popeye (and it's manifestations). I treated the tank with tetracycline and Oscar is as good as new. I've had him at least two years if not longer so I thought he might be on his way out. The tetracycline worked like a charm. The water turned very red but with a 25% water change and some carbon in the filter it cleared up in a day or two. I was more or less resigned to losing him but he's been given new life!

Glad to hear that things are on the mend for you and Oscar!

Well that's a confusing title if I've ever seen one.

Exactly! I used to name my betta fish "Charlie" but they never lasted more than a year--in a heated filtered 5.5 gallon planted tank with weekly water changes. I decided my betta needed a tougher name--hence "Oscar" since they seem to be one tough fish. He's made it about 2 years so far so I guess the name works!
