well, I don't think endangered fish should be avoided, rather they should be bought in hopes of breeding them to make a stable captive population in case they go extinct in the wild.

Thats true. But they should only go to people who understand their special needs or a breeder with that goal in mind. Most people don't know how to properly care for them.
yeah. i was goign to mention them but i see you already know. lol. bangaii cardinals are only wild around a small island (guess which one ). wild ones are still captured because their harvesting is only limited. but IMO, they are so widley availible as captive raised because they are so easy, there isnt really an excuse not to buy them.
FIshcatch: i agree with you to some extent. i believe that they should be bred in captivity, or at least attemped, but i do not believe that endangered or threatened fish should be sold to the public in hopes of this because far too many will die. instead, i think they should be released to known aquaculture facilities so that they can breed and THEN start to distribute the fish.
