ok, well if a bunch of goldfish die, while I am not crazy about it, if one of those kids learns something about science from it, I am not gonna be that distraught over it.
BTW a few points from perusing the thread:
Some of ya'll were talking about food coloring in water from another thread...food coloring isn't going to harm the fish. You can drink food coloring and it won't hurt you. They have actually done studies in San Antonio that indicate the 2 times a year they dye the San Antonio river may have beneficial effects on the ecosystem there.
Secondly, I doubt it is quite as has been reported. Whenever schools in Texas do a study/experiement that involves a live animal, they are required to get approval for it through their state education agency. So I am certain there is a bit more to it then the teacher deciding to starve a bunch of gold fish in cups for a month to see what happens.
Finally again, if a single one of those kids learns something or developes an interest in science as a result of this, well then the goldfish served a better purpose then most end up doing.
