I have discovered my gravel moving. I must have brought them in with my plants ugh! I'm thinking of getting some loaches. What are some small ones for a 40 gallon that are good at getting rid of them. I like the way Kuhlii Loaches look but I'm not sure if they will eat the snails. Thanks for any input! :read:

Dojo loaches are cool water fish and should not be kept in tropical community. They also grow way to larger to be permanently housed in a 40 gallon aquarium.I have four kuhli loaches and some snails that came unexpectedly. No snails are gone. Mine dont eat them and I dont think yours will either. Instead I suggest one or a pair of dojo loaches. They do get the snails.

if you get kuhlis, make sure to cover the intake of your filter with a sponge.
It's not that I mind the snails I have heard that they can take over rather quickly, thats what I'm afraid of!

Never found loaches to be good for getting rid of snails. Botias are the most effective. My local dealer had a turtle he would lend to regular customers which would do the trick. Reinfestation occurs easily with new plants which often have eggs on them.
Hey thanks I would have never thought of that! I really wanted them to get rid of the snails but I still may get some they seem really neat!
