I have a 6 gallon refugium attached to my 30g, and was wondering if there are any fish that I could keep in such a small setup. The tank has some LR and a few clumps of Chaeto.

I was thinking about something like a small Goby. Liveaquaria.com has something called a Yellow Striped Clingfish that stays very small, but I don't know much about this species.

Just curious and would appreciate any suggestions.

Look up catalina goby they stay very small. You could even keep a breeding pair in a 6 gal. and trade the babies in at the LFS for credit!!

yeah that would be pretty cool actually

Yeah, I have always liked the Catalinas, but I thought they were a cooler water species from the West Coast? I don't know if they would be healthy in my tank that is 79 F. Please let me know if I'm wrong, cause they would be great in my little fuge.

The catalinas will be fine in your fuge just acclimate them slowly. They do come from cooler waters but will live in a reef. A lot of animals we keep in our tanks are a few degrees off of their natural temp. Even corals which can be redaly found in 83 degree water in the wild.

No, you are not wrong. Every site I've ever frequented regarding catalina gobies as well as (surprisingly) every LFS I've ever been to that talk about them, all bring up that they're colder temperature fish. I'm going to have to disagree with keeping them unless you're willing to decrease your overall temp.

I don't know why anyone would intentionally keep them at higher temps knowing this.

I am going to hold off on adding anything for a while, but I plan on putting a thermometer in the fuge to see what temp it stays at. I keep the heater in the main tank and the water in the fuge may be a few degrees cooler.

Well under your thinking we shouldn't keep coral either because it is often found in warmer water, 83-85 degrees, and why would anyone intentionally decrees an animals temp knowing this???
