Does anyone have the secret to taking good pictures of their tank with a digital camera?? I'm kind of new to the whole digital thing. Thanks!!!!!

I think the pictures come out best if all of the lights in the room are off except for the aquarium lights. Also do not use a flash since it will reflect in the picture. The use of a tri pod really helps too. I also try to get as close as possible to the tank so there is no reflexion.

Also dont forget to Set up your Cam. on "M" (Manually). I think it takes better pictures b/c you set up how the pic is going to turn out rather than trying to put it on the little green Box where it automatically does everything for you and if you dont like your pic your stuck with it. Also to get even a better picture try using photoshop you can alter your picture and make it really stand out before posting it up.

The problem I see with most aquarium pictures is low light. There is of course only a few things that can be done and I may do some experiments in the near future to find out what works good. Getting more light into the aquarium is really what I think is needed. Mounting a flash to the top is of course outside most peoples capabilities (how many have an external flash with a remote control) but getting a stronger light if only temporarily mounted to the top may do the trick. Kinda sux to take a picture of your nicely decorated tank only to have the fish come out all blurry.

I know!!! Before I posted I tried taking some pictures, and yes, they sucked! They were blurry:(

I used to get blurry shots of the fish, too. to fix this, someone suggested leaving the flash on for the shots, but making sure the camera lens is really close to the aquarium glass. I tried it and it worked like a charm. every so often you may get a little reflection in the shot, but most shots turned out fine.

when taking close ups of the tank, its also important to use the macro setting on your camera... some cameras have a button with a little flower on it that will turn on your macro.

give this a try and it should work.

tripod..... good camera... no flash is also good. if your using a flash take it at a angel.

You will need a good camera and I found you need the flash but hold it at an angle as Mgamer20o0 stated and I think you will like the results. Take a lot of pics and sort out the ones you like on your computer later.

I attached a couple of my favorites, I have hundreds of pic but only a small percentage turn out the way you want them.

I have found it very difficult to get a fish to pose !!!LOL
