Compatibility questions answered!

It's nifty, but I'd love to see it expanded or diversified to provide compatibility for more fish species than just those listed.

Still, it's a fantastic start!! :D

well, i perused the "Search for compatible combinations" and found much that in my opinion, is wrong. personally, i found the results far to general and would not rely on Tims Tropicals for much.

Hmmm... and here I thought I found a reliable source of info...

Still, it's a nice notion to think someone might come up with a calculator that'd help beginner aquarists to know what goes best with what as they are learning more about the hobby, right?

It's a start...

I wish I'd found it last year... I've recently discovered that I'm keeping fish together that are incompatible with each other. But then, I don't witness any fighting, aggressiveness or injuries in the fish living in the same tank. At any rate, It's a place to get a good idea when fish shopping...

it said blue gouramis could be kept with altum angels, angelfish, pearl gouramis, dwarf gouramis, croaking gouramis, bettas, kissing gouramis, sparkling gouramis, glass catfish (thats a disaster waiting to happen), and tiger barbs. blue gouramis would kill or fight with (in the kissing gourami's case) any other gouramis in the tank. blue gouramis are also to aggressive to be put with angels, especially altums. glass cats should not be put with any other aggressive fish for they are just to peacful, perhaps even to peacful for their own good. they often do not get enough to eat, and a blue gourami would terrorize them. it also said that they should be kept in groups, more males than females. another disaster waiting to happen. females can be as aggressive as males, and the males will fight over the females.

the figure 8 puffer compatability wasnt even finished, and it said that it should be kept in groups and with dwarf puffers. figure 8 puffers are prackish, and dwarf puffers are not.

the site also said that fancy goldfish were compatable with kuhli loaches, corydoras, upsidedown catfish, rosy barbs, otos, and tiger barbs. they are not compatable with any of those for they need different water temperatures. tiger barbs would rip them to shreds.

half of the compatability lists i looked up were half finished. not very reliable at all IMO

I guess any info you find perusing the web should be followed up with more research! I thought the database format was nice anyway...

No auto calculator will work.
