I believe I have a sponge in my tank. It first started off as a small bright orange patch. Then it developed dark brown spots, which later became brown bumps. Now it looks like brown spots have developed into very small cones with hairs coming from them. Is my sponge going to continue to change? Its been over two months now and it continues to change, but not spread. Will it ever spread? And anyone have an idea of what type of sponge it is?

I tried to get the best picture I could, but sadly the sponge is located towards the back of the tank.

looks like an encrusting sponge

I was trying to find more care info on them. Do they need any special care? I am guessing my tank conditions are decent enough for it since its been able to grow. I was thinking of trying to get it spread to other areas in the tank. Would that be a good idea and how would I do that? Or would that be bad for my future soft coral plans?

Thanks for the ID and help. Hopefully it will mature to a point where it has more distinctive features.
