discus questions

Twinkle: I thought I'd read somewhere that zebra danios were supposed to be too neurotic for discus and might nip at their fins. I could be wrong.

Star: Occasionally, my scalare (supposedly wild, but who knows) will get irritated with one of the discus if that discus wanders into what the scalare thinks of as its territory, and will peck once at the discus. The discus are hardly moved, though and continue on with what they were doing. Territories are pretty well-established now.

twinkle. hit and miss with danios..mine didn't seem to bother the discus much.

sun,
it can be tough to tell wild scalare from domestic.I have the wild peruvian..very different than what I have seen in domestices(brown backs, blue crest and the distinct spots that appear...they also have distinct blue hue to the ventral fin) when in breeding colors..very beautiful angels.

waiitt a minute discus and angels in the same tank?? i thought that was a big "no no" ???

it can be..but there are many instances where this is successful. it is actually not so uncommon as some might think.
the big issue is transfer of disease.
angels can carry camillanus and capillaria worms/parasites. there are others too.

my angels were quarantined for months.

my discus have been around angels almost as long as I have had them.

discus can be more timid..but..they can also be more competative ..
if you try it..you need to have a back out plan in the event the mix does not work.

I have found that the discus..not the angels can be more agressive. it all depends.
