Tankmates for Angelfish

not to hijack the thread but could i keep discus and angels together in a 60gal

If the discus are healthy adults then there would probably not be a problem. With juvinille discus I would not recommend. The feeding habits differ, angels are very aggressive feeders where as discus are more like grazers. If your discus become stressed at feeding time then they will quite eating even if food is available. Once adult though they will be more agressive with feeding and then the mix would be more probable.

I have rummynose tetras with my angels and they have been just fine. If they are in a proper school they really should not be fin nipping.

I had 2 angels, and over a period of time they ate 6 of my neons, 1 golden white cloud, and 1 one of my danios. My angels started lip-locking after a while, so I had to take one of them back to the LFS.

What ever you decide to put with your angelfish, just be prepared for anything to happen!

be careful if you get tetras to make sure they are in a big enough group like 6 or more and no lemon tetras or flame tetras, they get really nippy (i had to return mine) you can also look at my fish below to see what might work

hope this helps

I kept danios with my angels when they were little and they did nothing but terrorize them. They would constantly nip their fins if they came too high off the gravel. That's why I now have angels with bent dorsal fins. Their dorsal fins were shrinking and looked frayed at the tip. I thought they had fin rot at first because, initially, I never actually saw the danios do any of the damage. Then I caught them in the act and brought them back to the LFS. Soon after that, the angels' fins began to steadily regrow...albeit bent. Stay away from danios or anything that could potentially nip your angels' fins.

I do have a school of harlequin rasboras in with my angels and they get along great. No nipping, no fast darting everywhere. Just a nice, colorful, peaceful school. You might want to try them.

The rummies are a school of five. All raised together. They school most of the time. They just seem attracted by the angels tendrels and will follow them along nipping at them. It does seem to be getting better though, because the angels are finally asserting themselves.
