Hello All,

This morning I noticed that my Feather Duster had shed about 1/2 inch of it's tube and then I just went home on lunch break and another 1/2 inch has been shed. Is this normal? This is the first Feather Duster I've ever had so I'm not familiar with their behavior. It was out when I got home, blowing around in the current, looking happy (atleast as happy as a feather creature can).

Thanks for your help!

so its loosing parts of its tube or feather crown? if its the crown that means its stressed, if it is part of the tube it could just be making a new one but that isnt to common really.

I agree, it usually isn't a problem if the tube has shed a bit. Although, hopefully you are sure that its sheding and nothing is picking at it. I noticed my dusters would not only shed their tubes to make a new one, but they would also shead just portions of their tubes so they could adjust the position. One of mine shedded about an inch of the tube and ended up rotating the tube to face its desired position. I find they like to avoid leaving their tubes if they can just make changes to it instead.

Is it sheading near the crown or the base, as my builds a bigger tube it sheds peices off the base.
