My friend bought an expensive Zoanthid, it didn’t open in his tank and the brown algae keep growing on it. Now he placed it into my tank to see how it’s go.

My water parameters and my own Zoanthids are all ok. As refer to the pic, it looks the heads are all shrank covers by brown algae, today is the 2nd day placed into my tank, do you guys think that it is still survive?

Around a month ago, my friend used Phosgard to remove the PO4 in his tank, however, his toadstool leather dead. After some researches we knew that Phosgard would release Aluminum that killed his leather. I am not afraid his Zoanthid rock would introduce Al into my tank as he has changed water quite often afterward, but some people said the Al as well as other heavy metal never leaves the live rocks and sands once introduced. Is this true? And is this also a reason why his Zoanthid not open?

once they start melting, there isnt too much you can do :(
but still, we would like to know your water param and lighting. what lighting were they under in your friend's tank?

I think your friend needs to prepare for the worst, I doubt they make it.

Agreed.

I tried the same thing, rescuring a dying one from a badly maintained tank into a suitable environment. It was alive for awhile, but didn't get any better at all. Then it died within a month or so.

Sorry to hear that.
