It's happening all over again with another panda cory.

The other panda who turned blue with Little Blue is starting to show the first symptom Little Blue was. Staying still and slowly his back end will drift up a bit, just like with Little Blue all the readings are spot on. I have no idea what to do. I took all the sand out of the tank so I could keep it super clean and changed the water anyway, I also added a general anti-bacterial at half dose. Is there anything I can do for these mysterious things or just wait for him to die and not move any fish in or out of the tank?

Tank Size: 24x12x12
Filter: Fluval 2
Substrate: Sand
Decor: PVC pipes, Terracotta plant pot
Plants: duck weed
Temp: 75F
pH: 7.2
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrate: 0.2ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Fish: 6 Clown Loachs, 7 corydoras panda, 12 Male N Endlers
 
probably the first thing I would do at this point is don't add any more medications.

do some water changes, feed some frozen blood worms (that cories love) and see what happens.

I would also add some fresh carbon to remove meds.

swim bladder problems are very difficult to treat. I am not sure if adding stong meds (even at a half dose) is going to do more harm than good at this point.
 
may as well give it a go, medicating them didn't work last time, though his back end is floating less now, but I wont add salt, sorry. A few years ago I had some corys and one went a bit weird, so I added 1/2 dose of salt and ALL of them were ded the next day, dispite only one being ill a few hours before, to all dead and floating the next day. I have banned salt. I don't know if they were all acting fine but very ill or if the salt killed them, but I wont use it again.
 
Did you ever determine what the bulging was? This could be the cause or a secondary infection.

Does this guy have this bulge as well?

Also, I'm not sure what the benefit would be in only providing a 1/2 dose of meds??? Forgetting the fact we don't even know his issue (s) requires this yet, but do you only take 1/2 your medication from the doctor, especially anti-bacterial mediction!?!? I hope not -- That will only create a stronger strain of bacteria in the long-run!!

Personally I would forgo the meds (or dose as recommended), but more importantly keep things as clean and stable as humanly possible. Especially if swim bladder is suspected. Usually SB is caused by a large shift in water conditions and/or an acclimation issue.

I'm certain acclimation and water changes were all covered in the previous posts for your other Cory so...

If it is a bladder issue, I do not know what will help him other than just providing him with a simple clean and stable environment to acclimate himself to. Constant temp, pH, water readings, etc.

I'm very sorry for your previous loss. Panda's are a nice breed. :(

Taking out the sand - I would keep a very very close eye on your readings and would expect a small spike in nitrItes unless you vac up the left over food and poop 2-3x a day. That was probably your largest source of beneficial bacteria ... Did you also remove all cover and decorations?

NitrAtes are 0.2ppm? Or did you mean 20ppm?

Never found out. I figure it was a tumor.

Not yet. Today he's flicking a but, but floating end less.

Well if I was a scaless fish and following directions I would :P Everyone says to treat corys, clown loach, and a list of other fish with half or less then half of the dose and uping the temp. I didn't up the temp though.

Thats why I took the sand out, so I could hoover EVERYTHING out every night and do small daily changes.

I've left all the cover, just took the sand out to keep the bottom cleaner while waiting for him to get well. I've put the sand in a different fishless tank to keep it cycled.

0.2ppm. More then 0 less then 0.5, so got a more touchy test, its 0.2ppm :)

He looks MUCH better today as far as the floating goes, but I saw him flick on the bottom twice, though no apparent spots or anything, and his back end is still slightly up more then the other corys, and they're all in normal fishy mode, and he's still hanging out with them, so I have hope.

I treated with the swimbladder stuff as its all I have for internal bacterial infections, and at half dose as everywhere I read for corys says to use half the dose. :) Please correct me if I am wrong :)

Just to be aware that the bacteria still need a food source - maybe some fish food - to keep them going. Glad things have improved :)

Your tank is way overstocked! Did no one else notice that there are 6 clown loaches and 7 cory cats in an aquarium that has a 24"x12" footprint? There is no way for this many fish to co habitat in an aquarium of this size. You best bet is to find an new home for the clown loaches, which usually exceed a foot in length when full grown.
