Hey everyone, for my new 60 gal. tank, I was going to use two Penguin Bio-Wheel 350's. Will these be too much filtration, or will it be really good for the tank?

sounds like a good combo to me, not too much at all. what are you planning on stocking the tank with?

2 Guppies
2 Platys
8-10 Dalmation Mollys
4 Angels
4 Angelicus Loaches
8 Cory Cats

However, if the guppies dont make it, I really want to replace them with 2 dwarf gouramis

Yes the p-350's will work just fine......:dance2:

Are these filters any different than my black filter that came with my 29 gallon tank from walmart? I know they have a spinning wheel, and I heard they keep the tank very clean, but other than that, I dont know much about them. I've always used the black HOB filters that use the blue cartridges and have a little water flow coming out into the tank. Can anyone give me a good review of this filter?

I think the wal-mart version doesn't have the biowheel but otherwise they are the same. Essentially there are a lot of people who really like their penguin / emperor filters. The upside of these filters is that they are REALLY easy to swap cartridges - they just fall into place. The downside is that unless you do some DIY or can find that media basket you can't customize what goes in that cartridge. If you feel really strongly about carbon, or are a fan of using those ammonia-remover media - this is gonna be a problem for you. Every filter has its pros and cons, so I tend to use different filters when I pair them up on my tanks. My bro is using a Penguin on his cichlid tank and the water quality is holing up nicely inspite of them being cichlids. If you're gonna buy two - think about getting one of those and an AC500 - it's a beast that combines the best of HOB's and Canisters.

Yeah my Walmart version doesnt have the biowheel. Are "cartridges" like the blue ones in my filter now? If so, can't I just use the ones that are made for that filter? I have no clue about carbon, or ammonia-remover stuff. I just know I need a good filter to help circulation and keep the tank clean. I can't do a Canister right now because I'm on a budget
