Thats a pretty straight forward forum. I dont think i could have all the care it needs so im going to avoid them. Is there any nice looking mushrooms and polyps and other coral that can be housed in the set up i got? (55gallon, 2 powerhead set like this: \ /, im getting a good sized Fluval underwater filter tomorrow for the bottom left corner shooting allong the back, water temp at 77, and 70watts of flourescent lighting)
If thats what you meant... you can have shrimps, some types of crabs, hermits crabs, snails, featherdusters, urchins, etc. there are alot of little guys you can get. I think they may actually be more interesting then the fish sometimes! Plus, they are a great clean up crew... help eat uneaten food and help keep algae to a minimium.
thanks at least i can have some nice looking creatures other than fish. Also, there seems to be some grains of salt in the tank on the floor (dont forget i only have the water in the tank). i mixed the salt in 1 day and a half ago. No problem right? And the pH is like 8.4-8.5. is this too high? i know its best at like 8.2 or so but how do i lower it if i have to??
you can lower the pH a little by partial water changes, it may also drop when your topping off with fresh RO water..
Are you sure it is actual salt? and not particles of the sand? if it is salt, then gently waft your hand over it to bring it back into the water column where is should get disolved. As the water has only just gone in there, it may just disolve on its own as the flow in the tank runs over it..
i think when you heard this they were talking about lower light for corals, somewhere in the 2 WPG range if you just have the tank barely lit it wont work. but im sure you wouldn't do that anyway
if the rock was transported in any water try to mak it the same, or at least close, to that. otherwise maybe just like 1.023ish, kinda ight in the middle.
