Where to buy electronic parts?

Are there any good online retailers that sell electronic parts such as capacitors, dioes, bridge recitifiers, relays etc?

The one place we had here is now closed and I have nowhere to purchase electronics parts, supplies and equipment.

Any of you fine people know of any such places.... paypal is a must :)
 
My "go to" place is Digikey, www.digikey.com. They have just about anything you could possibly need, and their inventory and online ordering databases are connected so you can see if they have it in stock before you order.

They started out as a small outfit catering to hobbyists, and have grown into one of the biggest short-lead-time parts suppliers around. I work for a Fortune 50 company, and it's not unheard of for us to use Digikey for prototype and pilot production run parts.

I don't know if they do PayPal, but they do take checks and money orders, and do have a Canadian presense.

Another supplier is Mouser, www.mouser.com.

Both of these still sell small quantities to hobbyists.
 
I use Newark Electronics a lot: http://www.newark.com/jsp/home/homepage.jsp but as PDX say, Digi-key is also very good. Paypal will be a problem for most places. I have found that Ebay is a good place to find electronic parts. You have to watch for offshore vendors and hidden shipping or packing costs but I have bought from there some.
 
Well eBay had occured to me, but I need something thats more of a store, and has basically anything my mad scientist mind can imagine I would need for one of my "projects".

you would honestly not believe how often I will just be sitting here, playing with ideas in my head and be like "CRAP, I need a bridge rectifier" or "hmmm now I need to get a relay"

the worst part is, with this place that was near me being closed im going to have to wait weeks for any parts I order.... and that sucks, and ALWAYS holds back any project.
 
hate to give a generic place, but if i was ever in need of a resistor/diode/LED etc etc, i would go to radioshack. as long as i knew exactly what i was looking for, i was good, since you couldnt even rely on the staff to tell you what the hours were. :p:
 
I've ordered from Newark before too, I made a heated vest for riding my motorcycle during the winter.
 
I use Radio Shack alot as well, although their selection is limited.

An exec there is a buddy of mine, and he assures me the parts bins won't go away. So you should always be able to get some things there.

I need a place to get anything at any time though (well not 24 hrs lol)
I dont want to have to go to RS and pickup a couple of things and then spend more money and shipping costs getting everything elsee off the net.

If i can get it all from the net thats fine, since I know i wont be finding any place local to buy it from anymore :(
