my geniopora need help information

my geniopora really dying this time.... i see the rock become empty slowly... but the tantacle still come out around 3-4 cm.....

need help now

ph = 8
ammonia = 0
nitrite = 0.3 ppm (up a little bit, after remove 1/8 bio ball)
nitrate = 25-50 ppm

calcium 400 mg/l

i need to know about his food by the way.... i just add like coral liquid and fresh meat that has been blenderd one...
 
Sadly the Goniopora is known as the renters coral unless your water is better than pristine. it doesn't tolerate nitrates at all and in your case your Nitrates and Nitrites are both up there and PH is pretty low. once the coral begins to die it is almost impossible to save it. Also just about the only thing small enough for them to eat are oyster eggs which are pretty pricey. you really need to work on getting those Nitrate levels down and the PH up if you plan on keeping any corals long term to be honest with you.

Goniopora do not have photosynthesizing symbiotic algae - like Sun corals, they must catch their prey and eat on a daily basis (preferably continuously...). I'm afraid that your Goniopora is thus dying from starvation. Adding liquid coral food and/or blended fresh meat is just adding to your problems, as this is only polluting your water (probably causing that elevated nitrite and nitrate levels...) In order to successfully keep that goniopora you will have to set up a very specialised tank, and a phytoplankton / zooplankton "farm" - not very easy :huh:

I suggest you return the coral to the ocean, if possible, else just accept that you made a mistake in getting it, and remove it from your tank - better to let it die quickly, than to prolong it's starvation.

thans... for the information... i know i do somethink wrong with my tank right now....

less information when i started is my problem.... thanks guys.. i will try to rise up the ph... and will remove another bioball again...

my geniopora is 6 month old already in my tank... and i just know it's a hard coral to keep....

well.... i better try to decrease my nitrate this 2 month... 2months project :devil: .....

ummmmmm... gonioporas do have zooxanthellae...


are you feeding your corals raw meat.. as in beef or pork?

thats a bad diet for them, gonioporas need a diet high in manganese which you can get from cyclopes. you can also feed them phytoplankton and oyster eggs. you also have to keep a sufficient iron lvl with gonioporas so they can procces the oxygen produced by the zooxan... and dont buy any more corals until you fix your nitrite problem....

reef roids are restricted to professional reefers.. but im pretty cure you can get your hands on a bottle
 
my nitrite has does down again.... it's 0 ppm again....

the problem why my nitrite has increase because i removed out my bio ball...
and of course i will not add another coral until i remove out all my bio ball... and i think it's take 2 month from now....

i give shrimps that has been blendered..... so it's just like liquid.... beside i also add sera coral liquid into my tanks twice a week
