Has anyone tried capturing the CO2 released from the Mentos and Diet Coke reaction to use for a DIY CO2 setup?

i wonder what kind of container you would have to use so that your fish didnt get a mentos-y burst of coke foam in their water. :p:

Might as well just blow bubbles in the tank with a straw. Mostly CO2 in exhaled breath ya know. Not that I've tried this or anything...*cough*.

I think the mentos just causes the gas to leave rapidly. I thought it was an interesting idea though. If you could restrict the flow of the gas (like other DIY type 2 liter setups but with a regulator to slow the slow) you would have an easy, if not efficient source of CO2.

I googled a little to see how much CO2 was in soda. This article showed a picture of a scale, so I assume its irrefutable.

What this translates to for an aquarium? I have no idea. Lets say that graph says that 2.25g of CO2 is contained in a 16oz. bottle... so a 2 liter would hold... lets say 9.91g of CO2. How does that compare to a DIY reactor or 1 bubble per second? I'm guessing not well... any thoughts?
