How many Tanganyika Cichlids for 30 Gallon -It Depends! I have Tang. in a 30 gal long 5 Brichardii,4 Julies, and 3-6 Synodonis Cats that are always hiding. Too Much on the bottom without rocks going up is asking for trouble. Most Lake Tang. in the hobby stay toward the bottom with little in middle and upper water. My experience is 30 is a good size for a single species tank and attempt breeding. You can research and get mid and upper water tang. but I have always found they are chased or killed outright unless big enough to hold there own. I'm not claiming to be an expert. I have kept Africans for 20 years because they don't require a lot of fussing. Bob
