idea: backwards bowfront

I've always liked the increased depth of the bowfonts, but like many others find the distortion to be too much to handle... I was at the LFS standing behind a bow front and thought to myself, "this is perfect, extra depth, a non linear background... that might just work!"

has anyone ever set up their bowfront to be bowback? I'd love to see pics if so.

just get a bigger tank

a bigger tank doesn't offer the visual depth of a bowfront... having the center deeper than the sides allows you to cheat the eye with well placed plants, and helps to eliminate the boxy feeling of rectangular tanks in general. nothing in nature is square.

sounds like a cool idea. No reason not to. just like a corner tank doesn't have to be kept in a corner

The only downside (beside the HOB one alluded to above) I can think of is the setup distance - the edges are going to be sitting quite a distance from the wall - guess if you can put together a stand to hide all that it might look pretty neat - maybe you could set it up in a corner and you wouldnt even notice. Hmmmmm .. lol

they do the same thing at many aquariums. looks great there.

what i mean by it not looking good is the curve against a flat wall, i think that wouldn't look good
