Try those tests with a good liquid test kit. I find the dip strips to be unreliable.

Nickxxon, I've decided that, if I do get an angel, I will risk it with the cardinals, they are slightly larger than neons, and I will start with a very young angel and hope for the best.

rbihsop. I use Ap test kits for Nitrogen testing, because I know the strips are pretty worthless for that.I was hoping I could get away with the strips for hardness/ph, just to save the money. I will call some lfs and see if they use liquid tests on samples. thanks.

Depending upon the size of the angels, I do not like to mix angels and samll tetras like cardinals or neons. They do make nice feeds for large angels.
Keyholes or cupidos might work.

actually, if i remember right, neons are an angel's prey in the wild.

^U R right

If you start off with small angels and cardinals/neons together, the angels won't eat them when they are adult size. Medium to large angels added in with neons/cardinals = buffet!

Not always true..cardinals , black neons tend to get larger as adults.
neons don't get quite as large.

angels are cichlids and will attempt to eat anything they 'think' is small enough to fit in their mouths.

that said..it has been done successfully(raising young angels with neons) but there is a risk that the angels will find the neons as food.
