Can I cycle my tank with a bunch of cories?

I've stocked my tank full of plants, and thru a few cories and a few $1 convict parrots to move the process along. My problem is that the C-P's keep trying to eat my mystery snails.....
Honestly I like the snails more than the fish, so my question to you guys is.....
Can I throw another 10 or so cories in there, and ditch the C-P's? Will the cories do the same thing as the C-P's? I just bought them cuz they were on sale, and plan on returning them once the tank is cycled...but I'd rather ditch them now before they kill all my snails.

Yes, the question was actually pretty irrelevant seeing as how I have so many plants, they actually did the cycling for me. I threw the fish in there just to make sure everything was covered. I figured a lil bit more food for the plants etc...

Actually, the article above doesn't mention the Planted Cycling Method. Is that because the average hobbyist doesn't usually have the right set-up initially?

Sure you can, you can cycle a tank with any fish imo as long as you don't add too many. I cycled my tank with neons.

with plants, it is possible to have a "quiet" or even "silent" cycle, but you ahve to stock SLOWLY. start with two or three corydoras and then see what your water parameters are and then wait a week to amek sure, and then you can add two or three more, and so on.

most people dont start off with plants right away. when i set up a new tank ill toss plants and cycled filter media and bam cycled.
