Lonely Shrimp

I have a ghost shrimp & betta in a 5 gallon tank together. My ghost shrimp is really weird... he won't come out much unles he's moulting or exploring or eating. I think he needs friends Should I just do 2 or 3 more, or more like half a dozen more? He used to have a friend but I accidently killed it (I can't remember how though...)

they have very little bioload. you should be fine adding 4 more.

Get 'em pretty close to full size, though (Bettas sometimes consider sm. inverts to be food).

You're lucky your betta hasn't made the shrimp a snack. Every now and then mine nips at my red ramshorn snails.
