Hey everyone,

For an all purpose show tank in my living room with mostly a few medium size SA cichlids that stay under a foot of lenght such as a Green Terror and an Oscar, which of the only 2 following tanks would you choose and why?

Hagen 108 Gallon aga 60 X 18 X 24 for $450
Perfecto 120 Gallon aga 48 X 24 X 24 for $575

Your feedback is greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Hagen
1] Its cheaper
2] its wider
3] its going to look more sleek
:D

An Oscar will not stay under a foot. They grow to be a foot or more and because of that are far from being considered a medium sized cichlid. I'd possibly re-think my stocking because once you put an oscar in there, you're not going to have much more room to play around with stocking wise. That and I think I might go with the Hagen. But that's just me.

go with the 108 if you want smaller fish that stay in schools like tetras. it wuold also be good to have a school of angels or discus in. severum and festivum are also some good choices for this tank. dont forget african cichlids either. with such a long tank, you can have quite a few places for them to hide.

go with the 120 if you want to have big, bulky fish like the oscars and GT you mentioned. both get to over a foot long and are pretty messy; which is where the bigger volume is better. with a bigger volume, you get better stability.

Water volume is pretty much the same since Hagen measures their tanks from the inside versus outside as the other companies do. The 108 is probably close to 120 gallons galllon for the other manufactures
