Used Canister with Ehfi Substrat (keep or replace 1/2) ?

i have a 1 yr old (yeah right, thanks seller!) 2213.

its noisy, i think i need a new impellar and possibly o ring for it....i'm not sure if its even worthwhile, by the time i buy these i could have bought a new filter!!!!

anyway, your gf will think you are mad (my wife thinks i'm mad anyway with my fish!!!), so wander your head around and try and suss exactly where all the noise is coming from, if its the top of the cannister it could be impellar.

the flute noise is simple, replace the pipe

Hmm... I have a 2nd 2213 head part that came with it (he said he dropped his first 2213 on the floor and it broke the cannister and something in the head.) But it's not worth it for me to try to swap parts. It seems to be a bit more quite now, but not as I had hoped.

I have a second hand eheim classic 2217. No problems here. If it is noisy take out the impeller and check the shaft and bushings for play and warp and crud. It could also be bubbles in your system. While it is on rock the pump back and forward towards and away from the outlet. Mine is whisper quiet.

How hard is that to do? Also is it difficult to put it all back together?

I have a second set of parts that should be like new

It may just take a little bit to get the air out of it - it will start out noisey and quiet down. Sometimes this takes 2 minutes, sometimes a couple of hours. A little gentle rocking helps.

I'm more worried about the leaking on the head unit. If the output fitting is cracked, that's not good...
